Yves Saint Laurent

There was major furor on the forums over the strawberry applique drawstring skirt, until taz alluded to the S/S 2001 Haute Couture that Pilati was obviously referencing. I find Yves' nearly decade old work more relevant, well-executed and fun;

It wasn't a bad collected per se, but what with the mounting expectations after some fairly dismal performances in Paris, I was a little despondent about the disparate outfits that came down the runway. Mixing eroticism of fishnet stockings, leather skirts and shorts with varying, archival ruching. And dense materials in minimalist cuts giving a feuille look to some outfits. And the weird shoulder pad capelets. All ideas presented, if given their own show and developed on, may have worked, but all together it looked non-directional. In the shops and on the street I think it may turn out better than presented here. It feels a little over thought somehow. Stefano Pilati, because you're super cute and you usually pwn Paris, I forgive you.
